In a rough bout, Goddard threw "Klondike" onto the floor and then hit him while he was still down. Los Angeles Times Fight reported to have ended in round four in the Chicago Tribune. Klondike did not fight Goddard in New York City on July 3, 1899, as previously listed. This appears to be a duplication of their actual fight of June 21 in Chicago.

referee: Billy Jordan
Goddard was to knock Smith out in 10 rounds or lose the purse. Smith was down three times in the 1st round, four times in the 2nd, five times in the 3rd, ten times in the 4th. In the 5th round Captain Short stopped the contest, thinking that Smith had had enough, but the latter explained that he was only playing possum and was allowed to continue. He was down six more times in the 6th, and eight times in the 7th, when Captain Short finally decided that it was too one-sided and stopped the bout. The referee declared it a draw. (SF Morning Call)
1892-06-30Joe McAuliffe13-3-0
Pacific A.C., San Francisco, California, USAWKO1520
referee: Hiram Cook
Contest was seen by some 3,000 spectators. Goddard's end was something over $4,000. McAuliffe dropped Goddard for short counts in rounds 1 and 6. In round 14 Goddard's right swing put McAuliffe through the ropes, but the big fellow survived, only to be knocked down in the 15th for a 9-count before another series of blows put him away.
