Robinson fought in flurries but kept the fight well in hand for seven rounds. He won every round except perhaps the fifth, which was about even. Jannazzo landed "a whizzer of a right-hand on the jaw in the eighth," which provoked Robinson into a rally. He landed hard punches that had Izzy staggering and then dropped him with a powerful right to the jaw. Izzy took a nine-count and then got up, but the referee then stopped it. 12,000 fans attended.
