From the Bridgeport Post (Herb Goldman). The fight lasted only 48 seconds and a torrent of rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, came on just after the fight ended. Gainer landed eight "wicked left hooks" and Barry was left hanging limply on the ropes, causing referee Billy Smith to stop the fight. Commissioner Joe Lawler thought that the ending was suspicious, but the referee and the ring physician said it was genuine. 3500 fans were on hand and they got soaked to the skin. Because of the rain, only three fights were held on this program.
