Hopper staggered McAuliffe in the first round with two hard blows on the jugular, and McAuliffe looked "knocked out" but recovered. McAuliffe evened the bout over the next three rounds. In the 6th, McAuliffe pounded Hopper and one blow sent Hopper through the ropes. When it looked like McAuliffe would knock out Hopper, the master of ceremonies stopped the fight to prevent Hopper from being knocked out. Source: New York Times
