1913-01-29Ray Bronson47-8-22
Auditorium, Indianapolis, Indiana, USALNWS1010
"Pity, compassion, the milk of human kindness or the lack of the necessary punch prevented Ray Bronson from scoring a knockout victory over Jim Perry of Pittsburgh in their bout at the Auditorium last night. A wholesome respect for the kick that was in some of the swings that jarred Bronson's head may have caused him to be overcautious, but from the third round on it looked as if the Pittsburgher could be stowed away almost any moment." 1911-03-25Billy Berger6-0-0
Old City Hall, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USADNWS66
Newspaper decision from the Pittsburgh Post. "Berger, fast, clever and outweighing Perry by at least twenty pounds, started in to put the former Denver fighter away early in the bout, but Perry was entirely too elusive in the first three rounds and the way he made Berger miss well intended sleep producers brought yells of delight from the fans. Perry showed he was thoroughly game and took a severe jolting to the head and jaw without flinching and in the sixth round fought back and succeeded in earning a draw. This was a fair award considering Berger's extra weight and other natural advantages he had over Perry." (Indianapolis Star)The Pittsburgh Gazette Times scored it for Berger.
