The records of both Cocoa Kid and Bell, in various editions of The Ring Record Book, give the result as a draw as does the Chicago Tribune. Also, the report of Gene Engel in The Ring, April 1947, page 48, indicate that the result was a draw. Cocoa Kid was down for a 9-count in round two, but came back and evened up the fight by "boxing beautifully."
