After this bout LaBarba renounced the Undisputed Flyweight World Title to attend Stanford College, with the intention of entering the brokerage business. And thus the Flyweight Title became disputed for 10 years to come, with various boxers claiming some version of it, including: Frenchy Belanger, Jackie Brown, Newsboy Brown, Frankie Genaro, Johnny Hill, Willie LaMorte, Johnny McCoy, Small Montana, Victor (Young) Perez, Emil (Spider) Pladner, Izzy Schwartz, Pinky Silverberg, and Midget Wolgast. In 1935 Benny Lynch defeated Jackie Brown for general recognition and then beat Small Montana in 1937 for universal recognition. (Courtesy of CBZ.)
