1895-03-20Tom Tracey12-7-3
Tattersall's, Chicago, Illinois, USAWTKO88
referee: George Siler
"Tommy Ryan of Chicago whipped Tom Tracey in seven rounds and a quarter at Tattersall's last night. The fight was to have lasted eight rounds, but it was stopped to save a knockout. A draw had been agreed upon by the managers but Ryan wouldn't have it that way. He had Tracey down twice in the minute the eighth round lasted, but the St. Louis man got up in time to save himself from being counted out." Tracey was down five times total, and in the seventh round, Tracey was allowed to remain on the floor for fourteen seconds because the managers instructed the referee not to allow a knockout. Ryan looked ten pounds heavier than Tracey. (Chicago Tribune)
