Coliseum, Chicago, Illinois, USADMD1010
UP reported Thomas winning the first five rounds and Marek winning the last five, in a grueling affair. Marek did not fight Billy Treest in Chicago on August 19, 1937, as formerly shown here. The Chicago Tribune did not report a program for that night. The error arose when the Ring Record Book, 1944 edition, showed such a fight, copied from Boxing News Record. BNR had mistakenly put Marek's fight with Treest on December 30, 1936 in his 1937 record.
1937-04-16Roscoe Toles11-5-1
Olympia Stadium, Detroit, Michigan, USALPTS1010
This fight was wrongly shown as occurring on 11 April 1937, in the records of both men as published in record books. The Detroit News (Laurence Fielding) gave the correct date.
