Andrei Kurnyavka

Andrei Kurnyavka (Andrei Kumyaavka) is a former Kyrgyz amateur boxer who also boxed for the Soviet Union. Kurnyavka represented Kyrgyzstan at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games in the Heavyweight class. He lost a 9-3 decision in the opening round to Félix Savón of Cuba. Kurnyavka was also the 1989 world amateur middleweight champion, upsetting Cuban Angel Espinosa in the final. Kurnyavka won gold at the 1990 Goodwill Games knocking out Jeremy Williams and outpointing Terry McGroom.
