Archie Sexton was the father of Dave Sexton, a well-known English football (soccer) manager. Dave managed Leyton Orient during 1965, Chelsea from 1967 to 1974, Queens Park Rangers from 1974 to 1977, Manchester United from 1977 to 1981, Coventry City from 1981 to 1983 and the England Under-21 team during two stints (1977 to 1990, 1994 to 1996). With Dave at the helm, Chelsea won the FA Cup for the first time during 1970 and the European Cup Winners' Cup, the first European championship for the club, during 1971. During the 1975-76 season in the old English First Division (the highest level of English Football League at the time), the Queens Park Rangers with Dave at the helm finished in second place, the highest position in the top division in the club's history. The powerful Liverpool club finished in first by only one point that season.
