Picar killed in blast!
By Nick Giongco
Ex-OPBF junior middleweight king Armand Picar of the Philippines was killed in a bomb blast late Tuesday afternoon in Davao City, Philippines. Picar, who failed to wrest the WBA 154-lb crown from Argentine Julio Cesar Vasquez in Las Vegas in 1994, was killed instantly. Picar worked as an airport porter at the Davao International Airport. Picar was given the chance to fight for the WBA title after he won the Orient title with a first-round knockout win in Korea in December 1993. He fought Vasquez on a Don King-promoted card at the MGM Grand.
