Bongani Dlamini was born in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga on January 8, 1987, and made his professional debut on August 17, 2007, when he stopped Own Mackay in the first round.

His first loss came against Thanduxolo Dyani, who beat him on points over three rounds. He then won his next four fights before being stopped in the third round by Jason Bedeman in a clash for the IBO Africa Lightweight Title.

Dlamini won his next three fights--against Joseph Modise, Raymond Kupula and Samkelo Fani--inside the distance and was scheduled to challenge South African lightweight champion Thompsom Mokwana in October 2011. But Dlamini died in a motor accident Sept. 4, 2011, when his car smashed into a tree in Sandringham, Johannesburg.
