Chicago Jackie Davis fought out of Chicago and Cleveland for most of his career. He was a top ten lightweight and welterweight in the early 1930s. Became a referee after his boxing career ended. Was the third man in the ring when Artie Levine floored Sugar Ray Robinson in another well-known long count incident. He also wrote a sports column for the Cleveland Plain-Dealer primarily focusing on boxing after he retired from boxing. Davis was a Golden Gloves champion in 1929. He won in the 2nd Division competing as a featherweight.
