Best known for his 4 bouts with Pongsaklek Wonjongkam, Naito challenged Wonjongkam in 2002 for his world title, Naito was knocked out only 34 seconds into the first round, setting the record for the shortest world flyweight title match ever. Naito challenged Wonjongkam for the second time in 2005, but lost by technical decision after the fight was stopped due to an injury in the 7th round. In 2007, Naito defeated Wonjongkam by 12 round unanimous decision, winning the world title five years after his first world title shot. Wonjongkam had made 17 straight defenses of the WBC title, and had not lost a match in over a decade. In 2008, Naito and Wonjongkam fought again for a forth time, the two appeared to be evenly matched, after 12 rounds, the fight ended in draw.
