Dave Maier was on the short end of a split-decision with George Nichols in the final of a NBA light-heavyweight elimination tournament held at Chicago Stadium on March 18, 1932 to determine a successor to Maxie Rosenbloom for the National Boxing Association's light- heavyweight title.
