21-0 southpaw WBC - IBF junior welterweight champion Devon Alexander retained his titles with a 12 round decision over Olympic Silver Medalist Andriy Kotelnik. Bloody cut over Alexander's left eye caused by Kotelnik accidental head butt in the fourth. Alexander suffering from left leg cramps in final round but finished out despite difficulty. Alexander's left jab was nonstop throughout this bout and dominated the Compubox punch count. After the bout, the Alexander camp stated its willingness to sign to fight Timothy Bradley Jr. on HBO on January 29, 2011 (proposed date). Kotelnik fell to 31-4-1. Exact same three 12 round title bout judges' scorecards in this bout, 116-112 across the board, as Tavoris Cloud-Glen Johnson IBF title bout earlier (also 116-112). Speaking through an interpreter after the bout, Kotelnik, Lviv, Ukraine, felt Alexander got a hometown St. Louis decision and if the bout were anywhere else the belts would be his. Champions in attendance included Evander Holyfield and Floyd Mayweather Jr..
