Edward J. Neil Trophy
This was a memorial plaque awarded by the Boxing Writers' Association of New York to the person "who has done the most for boxing during the preceding year." It is named after the Associated Press reporter and war correspondent, who was born January 17, 1900 in Methuen, MA, USA. On January 3, 1938, Edward J. Neil died of shrapnel wounds suffered in the the line of duty while serving as a war correspondent with the Loyalist Army in the Spanish Civil War.
