Charlo Versus Douglin Light Middleweight Bout

Denis Douglin, a former National Golden Gloves Middleweight champion, was knocked out for the second time in a year, this time by 18-0 Texas prospect Jermell ' Iron Man' Charlo, a former 2005 Junior Olympic Bronze medalist. Douglin was also knocked out in 2011 by Pennsylvania trialhorse Doel Carrasquillo, who went on to knock out Shamone Alvarez. Charlo landed overhand rights and right-left combinations all night. Charlo landed a power right on southpaw Douglin walking in. Douglin went down and got counted out by referee Wayne Hedgepeth at 1:12 of the fifth round. The bout was on the undercard of Victor Ortiz versus Josesito Lopez welterweight main event at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Douglin's best round in this competitive bout was the third, which he won by scoring body shots.
