"Featherweight hopeful Danny Lopez, trying to regain his form after suffering three defeats in his last four fights, came back with a 2nd round knockout over former bantamweight champion Chucho Castillo Thursday night. Lopez had Castillo down once in the 1st round and twice in the 2nd before referee John Thomas halted the scheduled 10 round fight and awarded him the victory. Castillo went down for a mandatory eight count in the opening round but complained it was from a butt. Then shortly after the start of the 2nd round Lopez scored with a right to the chin, decking the former bantamweight titleholder. Finally a series of punches put Castillo down again and the bout was halted as the round ended." -Long Beach Press-Telegram
