Bout Summary

A quick counter left hook caught Ayala coming forward and sent him down 35 seconds into the first round. He was up at the count of six and received the mandatory eight-count. By the midway point of the round, Ayala was already bleeding heavily from the nose. He circled the ring in an attempt to keep Mayweather at a distance. At 2:16 of the round, Mayweather told Ayala to stop running and fight. Mayweather cornered him in the final seconds of the round.

Mayweather continued to walk his opponent down in the second round and land calculated shots while Ayala stayed on his bicycle. Midway through the round, Mayweather put Ayala flat on his back with a big counter left hook to the chin. Ayala's head bounced off the canvas when he went down, and the referee immediately waved an end to the bout without beginning a count. The time was 1:39.
