Professional career

  • Pianeta is a German-based, Italian-born professional boxer who fights in the heavyweight division.
  • Pianeta showed his professionalism when he traveled internationally to fight opponents. His first fight as a professional boxer was in July 2005, in Hessen, Germany, when he beat Slovakian journeyman Sylvester Petrovic with a second round knockout.
  • He has fought in Italy, Ireland, Austria, Poland, Belgium, Denmark, and Switzerland.


  • Pianeta was diagnosed with cancer in late 2009 and temporarily retired while he battled the disease.
  • Pianeta's parents are from Corigliano and when he was six years of age the family emigrated to Germany and his father went to work in a butcher store.
  • Pianeta was originally a muay thai and had a record of 9 wins and one loss before he turned to professional boxing.
