1937-09-08 : Frankie Genovese 146½ lbs beat Gordon Wallace 144 lbs by PTS in round 10 of 10

  • Location: Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
  • Referee: Arthur Donovan
  • Canadian Welterweight Title (2nd defense of Genovese)

  • According to the September 9, 1937 edition of the Montreal Gazette: "There wasn't the slightest doubt as to Genovese's victory, taken on a two-fisted attack that had Wallace hanging on briefly at times, but the scrap at no point threatened to produce a knockdown."
  • Given the very controversial nature of the previous two fights between the two men (see Gordon Wallace vs. Frankie Genovese (2nd meeting) and Frankie Genovese vs. Gordon Wallace (3rd meeting)), the Commission decided to forgo the appointment of judges and called upon renowned referee Arthur Donovan of New York to be the third man and render the decision alone.
