In 1934 Frankie Williams of the Salem Crescent A.C. won the New York Daily News Golden Gloves Open Championship at lightweight by stopping Charles Diaz of the West Side YMCA at 2:20 of the 1st round and won the Intercity Golden Gloves Championship at lightweight vs. Aron Wade.
