- Judge: Americo Schiavone 6-4
German middleweight ace Peter Mueller made his US debut when he faced unbeaten Gene Fullmer in New York, the first of Mueller's 11 fights in the US.
Fullmer had too many combinations for Mueller. Looping rights to the head hit Mueller time and again. Mueller himself scored with looping rights, but Fullmer had the upper hand all the way in this 10 rounder.
The correspondent for The Ring, February 1955 issue, described Fullmer as "crude and clumsy in his moves," but the Uthan "compensated with strength, stamina and enthusiasm for the job."
