1938-01-21 : Jim Braddock 199½ lbs beat Tommy Farr 207 lbs by SD in round 10 of 10

It was a close fight but Braddock earned the victory as he began dancing around Farr and scoring with his jab in later rounds.

After Braddock beat Farr he became the number two contender for Joe Louis' heavyweight title, which Braddock lost to Louis a few months earlier. But Braddock knew it was time for him to get out of boxing while he's still on top of the game and hasn't suffered a serious injury yet.

Braddock announced his retirement on February 1st.
