Bundaberg born and bred, won the Flyweight Championship of Australia in 1951 by knocking out fellow Queenslander, " Stumpy Butwell" in 11 rounds to take the title.

A very hard puncher for a small man, of the 21 bouts he contested, he won 10 by knockout. Among his victims were Joe Scully, Ian Killeen, Jimmy Hogg, and Stumpy Butwell.
