Johnny Greco began boxing at the the age of seven at the Griffentown Boys Club in Montreal's West End neighborhood of Notre Dame de Grace. He was a popular attraction for Montreal promoter Raoul Godbout, as well as a ranked contender in the Lightweight and Welterweight divisions. He was featured on the covers of the July 1943 & Dec. 1946 The Ring magazine. Greco died when his car skidded on ice, crashed into a tree, and he suffered a broken neck. He was survived by both his parents and two sisters.
