Amateur Career

  • Kell Brook had his first amateur fight at age 12 under the tutelage of Brendan Ingle. By the end of his tenure he had won 31 of his 36 fights, winning two Amateur Boxing Association of England titles and two National Association of Boys Clubs British Boxing Championships and a Gold medal in the 4 Nations. After his successful amateur career he faced the inevitable comparisons to Naseem Hamed. [1]

  • Kell Brook was the subject of the New Faces article in Ring Magazine: November 2011
  • Brook was stabbed in 2007 after a night out in Burngreave, less than a week after defeating Karl David in Cardiff.
  • Brook was also stabbed in the leg after an attack on holiday in Tenerife shortly after defeating Shawn Porter for the IBF World welterweight title in Carson, California.
  • Brook was ranked as the world’s best welterweight by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board and The Ring Magazine in Aug. 2016.
