James H. ( Lord Jim ) Ferguson a colorful amateur boxing promoter, radio and newspaper personality, billiards player, art gallery owner and manager and founder of the famous Bill Haley and the Comets [1] rock 'n’ roll group was a native of Oxford, Pennsylvania, being well known for his outgoing character and personality. The Delaware County Times reported that one of his boxing shows at Brinton Lake drew over 10,000 spectators, a record in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. As a lieutenant commander in the United States Navy, he served with the Atlantic Fleet, during World War Two.
