Cuero showed little interest in fighting in the first two rounds. He mostly evaded and retreated as Gesta came forward. Cuero was warned in Round 2 for holding. Following a spattering of boos, Cuero exchanged more in Round 3. The two traded more frequently in Round 4, with Gesta getting the better of Cuero, who did land some decent shots to the body. Cuero was warned in Round 4 for spinning around Gesta and punching. Cuero was warned early in Round 5 for holding and was deducted a point for continuing to do so in the round. He got to his feet at the count of eight, but the referee waved for the bout's end.
