Director of the Buffalo, NY, Working Boys Home during the 1930s and '40s, where he was known for his strong use of discipline through boxing to control the boys at the home. He promoted amateur boxing events on a regular basis to help raise money for improvements at the home. After the Courier Express dropped their sponsorship of the Golden Gloves, Father Kelliher acquired the franchise and would run the Gloves for over ten years until the early 1970s.
