2008-08-02 : Oscar Larios 126 lbs beat Marlon Aguilar 126 lbs by KO at 2:30 in round 7 of 12

The bout was competitive for several rounds. Larios eventually took command, flooring Aguilar at the end of the sixth round, and finishing him in the seventh round to retain the interim WBC Featherweight Title. This set up an October 2008 bout for the regular WBC Featherweight Title between Mexico's Larios against Japanese Featherweight champion Takahiro Aoh in Japan, as WBC champion Jorge Linares had not returned to defend the full title since beating Larios for the vacant WBC title in 2007. Larios was under indefinite suspension by the Nevada Boxing Commission after that bout as of July 21, 2007, due to a sub dural hematoma sustained, but the suspension was not recognized in Mexico or by the WBC and he may have recovered.
