"Orlando Zulueta, 2nd ranked lightweight contender, scored an 8th round TKO over Paolo Rosi tonight due to a nasty cut over the right eye of the Italian import in a scheduled 10 rounder at St. Nicholas Arena. The end came at 46 seconds of the 8th when Referee Al Berl stepped between the two men as blood streamed from Rosi's cut. Rosi suffered the cut in the 2nd round after the boys had been fighting at close quarters. Zulueta's talented left piled up points, taking full advantage of the cut. It bled throughout the contest." Post fight comments:
- "I butted him with a left hook." Orlando Zulueta, responding to Rosi's claim that the cut was caused by a butt.
- "If it was a bigger cut we could have stopped it better. It wasn't big enough to use any medication on. Every time he wiped it with his glove, he made it worse." Johnny Sullo, Rosi's handler.
