Pugilistic Society

• London-based boxing organization (1814-1861) that developed the London Prize Ring Rules in 1838, which replaced Broughton’s Rules of 1743. These rules were in turn updated by the Pugilistic Association's Revised Rules in 1853, and then superceded by the New Rules of the Pugilistic Benevolent Society in 1866, the latter commonly known as the "Rules of the London Prize Ring."
