Ray Jutras won the Silver Mittens 90-lb title in the early 1950s. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, he was one of the most feared amateur fighters in New England.

  • 1962: Greater Lowell 112-lb Semi-Finalist (losing to Jerry Forte; NE Champion Forte was unable to compete in the National Golden Gloves of the US, due to a cut eye, Jutras replaced him).
  • 1962: Won the National Golden Gloves of the US; 112-lb Champion vs. Paul Chavez of Roswell, NM.
