Sam Solomon

Sam Solomon (Born Leon Solomon in 1915 - Died December 13, 1998 in Philadelphia, PA) was a Philadelphia based trainer perhaps best known for training heavyweight Leon Spinks, when Spinks shocked the world by upsetting the legendary Muhammad Ali in 1978.

Solomon also played professional baseball, as a catcher in the Negro Leagues. Solomon trained kids in Philadelphia until his retirement in the late 1980s. Solomon passed away in Philadelphia on December 13, 1998 from heart failure.
