Sandy Griswold

Sandy Griswold (Samuel Gerard Vietz Griswold) was considered the dean of American sports writers when he died April 20, 1929 (age 80) of acute heart trouble. He had been born near Marion, Georgia, February 16, 1849, to a family distinguished in art, letters and science. He had covered boxing since the Jake Kilrain vs. John L. Sullivan bout of 1889.
