Sean Daughtry won four New York Golden Gloves Championships. Daughtry won the 1988 132lb Open Championship, 1989 139lb Open Championship, 1990 147lb Open Championship and the 1992 147lb Open Championship. In 1988 Daughtry defeated Robert Maldonado of Gleason's Gym in the finals to win the Championship. In 1989 Daughtry defeated Varise Waller of the New York City Recreation in the finals to win the Championship. In 1990 Daughtry defeated Jeffrey Griswold of the Police Athletic Leagues Webster Center in the finals to win the Championship and in 1992 Daughtry defeated Luis Cintron of the Fort Apache Boys Club in the finals to win the Championship. Daughtry trained at the Police Athletic League.
