Bout Summary

A competitive opening round saw both fighters land effectively. Bogere came out quickly, moving in and out and finding success with looping right hands. Beltran, the visibly bigger guy, came forward and found success with countering opportunities. Accidental head clashes plagued the bout and in Round 3 a cut opened on the outside of Beltran's left eye. In the 4th, another clash of heads as Beltran came in head first opened a bad split on the left eyelid of Bogere. Beltran was warned for leading with the head. Beltran had a strong Round 5 using his physicality to smother Bogere's speed. Beltran was warned again in Round 5 for leading with the head. Bogere picked up his movement in the 5th and looked to make Beltran pay for coming forward. In Round 8, a left uppercut wobbled Bogere and caused him to stumble forward. In falling, he grabbed Beltran and both fighters went to the mat. Referee Robert Byrd, however, ruled that neither man went to the mat as a result of a knockdown. Despite the ruling, it was Beltran's strongest round. The back and forth action continued in the final two rounds of this difficult-to-score bout with Bogere moving in and out throwing quick shots and Beltran coming forward looking to land the left, uppercut or right hand to the body.
