Tom S. Andrews
From Boxrec Boxing Encyclopaedia
Sports Editor - Matchmaker - Promoter
- Sports Editor for the Milwaukee Evening Wisconsin newspaper (circa 1909)
- First matchmaker for the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles in 1925
- Known for his World’s Sporting Annual and Ring Battles of Centuries sports record books
- Was also a powerful promoter in Milwaukee
- The Tacoma Daily News (Tacoma, WA, USA) reported that a Tom Andrews, Milwaukee promoter, had fallen on a sidewalk in Sydney, Australia and died from his injuries (Dec. 8, 1919). But this was probably a different Tom Andrews, or an erroneous report, given that Andrews was working at the Olympic Auditorium years later.
- Died in Milwaukee, aged 72, on Dec. 1, 1941, per The New York Times
