Writing Boxer Pages

It is not always necessary to use the bullet format when writing a boxer's bio. That is usually done when bits and pieces are added by individual editors over time, or when there are just a few bullet items. In a case such as Manuel Ramos's page, there are so many bullet items that, really, a nice little bio could be written in standard paragraph form based upon all those factoids. Of course that would take some work on someone's part, and you are not being asked for forced to do so. But, this message is only for you to keep in mind the bullet format is not mandatory, particularly for biographies. --Ric 22:29, 12 September 2006 (CDT)

Internal Links

Please do not create double-bracket ([[name]]) links to names/pages outside this wiki boxing encyclopedia. Such as to Sammy Davis Jr.. He doesn't otherwise have a boxing-related page here, so he does not warrant his own page here--unless he became a boxing manager, or has some other significant boxing ties that merit creating a page for him here. Having his shoes shined by a former boxer doesn't count. :D You can create an "External Link" to a site about him elsewhere; that's fine. But double-bracket links should be limited to only those pages in THIS encyclopedia. Great job you're going otherwise. --Ric 13:59, 8 November 2006 (CST)

Stankie

I'm trying to contain the MMA references, this is a boxing wiki but we seem to get a lot of MMA stuff added JohnShep 12:47, 11 December 2006 (CST) ps the system may be a bit flaky at the moment as I am upgrading the software

Page Deletions

You wrote me this: "Noticed you deleted a number of boxers pages. Was wondering why? Also, what determines who stays and who gets deleted." Please give an example so that I know the reason I deleted it. Thanks. --Ric 13:10, 11 December 2006 (CST)

I deleted Stoner's page because the only text in it was :"Record complete through 1982 according to RRB 1983' (and the only contributor was" )". That was useless and out-dated information, we Editors determined long ago. The page can always be recreated if someone has some useful text to put in it. If you got something to say about Stoner, or anyone else's page that has been deleted for similar reasons, go ahead and create it (from the BoxRec side of the database). --Ric 20:17, 11 December 2006 (CST)

Foster

Instead of saying "some sources" list Foster's bithdate as 1942, why don't you actually name the sources. Try to avoid weasel terms like that.--Matt Tegen 16:27, 29 January 2007 (CST)

'Categories'

Please go back to your recent edits and delete all the "Categories" headings you recently created. They mean nothing. The "category code" is "hidden": the code does not appear to the visitor, although the categories themselves appear at the bottom of the page. --Ric 00:30, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Correcting BoxRec records

The most suitable place to report corrections on BoxRec records (e.g. those of Kenny Klingman or Ron Casey) is this forum.--Emaster 00:15, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Sections

You don't colorful section names for every paragraph. A simple "Career review" will suffice.--Matt Tegen 23:43, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
