Some bugs in the encyclopaedia

Hey John! Why did you delete my Pics? Now, There are no contributions on my account!

Can i put pic in the page of boxer? or i need help from you or other guys?

Sam BLACKIE Pesolie

needs to be combined, two listing FYI

John...........How do you upload a picture?

John, there are some bugs/issues here. Maybe you want to/can sort them out:

The All pages special lists some pages which do not exist (any more), with all page titles containing foreign characters except for two: Boxer:Umberto Magliocchetti (Maggi):123978 (Look here.) and Steve Conway vs. Mihaly Kotai (1st. meeting) (Look here.).

This user page behaves oddly (especially on my watchlist). Maybe because of the renaming of the page.

Incumbent succession boxes do not display dashes properly on pages on which a boxer code is inserted above an incumbent succession box. On Miguel Angel Cotto's page, for instance, the following box looks different than on this page as Cotto's boxer code has been inserted above the box on that page.

Sorry but I don't know where to begin with this, the software was not written by me, I shall have a go at fixing it but don't hold your breath JohnShep 01:32, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Of course, I just want to point out this stuff.--Emaster 01:55, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

O'Neil Bell's boxer page can't be accessed and this page seems to be discarded.

BTW: Should I actually contact somebody else in terms of this kind of stuff? Who would it be?--Emaster 16:44, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Primi Carnera Edits

John, your recent edit of the Primo Carnera page created some of those odd square characters that seem to pop up here and there. --Ric 16:21, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Greatest Ever

John, I don't see what the big deal is. it's listed under awards and recognition. it's not really different from some of the other awards i've listed before.

Chicago Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions

what happened to category, tried to change Chicago Golden Gloves Champions to Chicago Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions. Regards, Bert

Yes, where should I look. Bert

Angel Espada

Thanks for catching that. I get these countless e-mailed image scans from Ted on an almost daily basis. I often cannot keep up with all the ones he sends. And he sometimes mis-identifies the boxer and I don't always catch it. This one should have been obvious to me. Thanks.--Ric 16:28, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Richard Savala Edits

Thank you for your edits of the Richard Savala bio. I will talk to Austin about your comments regarding his style of writing and I also will make sure Dan Cuoco knows how to make similar edits, in particular adding pictures, to fighters bios. BTW, Richard Savala is very happy about the way his record looks now. He gave me additional pictures to insert, but I think that given their nature (his family now) I will refrain from adding them. I understand that you are trying to maintain an objective record. I will also send a quick reply to Ric on the same topic.

Image of Tex Jordan

Hi John. Before he died, "Uncle Tex" like to keep us kids entertained at family gatherings with stories of his past as a boxer and "Hollywood star". We never believed anything he said, but it looks like at least the boxing part had some truth. Can I ask where you got the picture of Tex? Ronnotel 16:17, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

Image of Joe Rosella

Hi John, How are you doing?

I stumbled upon an old picture of my grandfather ( and would like to see if I can get a better quality version of it :)

I see that the User that added it (Nonoman) was blocked by you. Is there a way for me to contact him?

Thanks in advance for your time. Wes

John, Assistance Requested

Hello John: Thank you for proving the opportunity for me to contact you. It appears the biography of Hassan Chitsaz, Global ID 131476, USA ID 010524 was tampered with and locked out inappropriately in the past.

Without criticism, will you please restore the last Hassan Chitsaz biography on BoxRec and tear down the present one which has a video and remove the video permanently. I will proofread the previous biography and remove any contents questionable and unverified about other people, and limit the BoxRec biography to Mr. Chitsaz accomplishments. This at the request of Mr. Chitsaz. You may then lock it out to prevent further tampering or editing. As it stands now it could be perceived as vindictive, as his previous biography of accomplishments was deleted. Whatever he is, he is a good spokesperson for boxing in his service involvement.

Regarding Rohit Singh Global ID 202587, FightFax recognizes his additional fights as official. BoxRec may simply have not had anybody covering these boxing cards in Fiji as it is an obscure location. As a compromise, I ask you to restore the paragraph just removed from Singh's biography and then lock it to prevent additional tampering. I believe this compromise fair for Mr. Singh.

I formally apologize to you for any misunderstandings associated with these two fighters. Your assistance with the above will resolve matters. And I look forward to making contributions in the future in a positive light.

With Friendship

John, Reply to Your Answer

Hassan Chitsaz biography was improperly deleted, and this is inaccurate. His original biography should be restored, and the video and its statement removed from his biography. It appears properly next to the account of the fight it was associated with. The removal of Chitsaz biography and the placement a second time of the video and the statement accompanying it is both vindictive and potentially libelous. Please restore the original biography in the name of decency. Thank you.

Standard profile photo size?

Thanks for the comment, but I'm not sure what the problem was with the original crop of the pictures I took/uploaded, that have now been cropped/shrunk for Quincy Miner and Frank Jordan. Is there some image dimension standard that you insist on? [I wasn't able to find any guidance on same.] I had uploaded pics that I had taken for several a lot of fighters from cards I've photographed --- and stopped after having spent most of a day doing so for a DC fight card in July only to have all of the pictures relegated to invisible/secondary links the following day. I decided to give it another go after another card last night, and now have these crops being made. I still have quite a few I could add, but would certainly like to know if I'm doing something "wrong" and/or should just stop. -- Dcork1
