Ali or Clay
Hey Matt, Wanted to get your thoughts on renaming early Ali fight pages (from Liston fight prior) should we use Ali or Cassius Clay? IMO, we should use Clay (ex. Cassius CLay vs. Sonny Liston). I know this would prevent us from using the fight code tag, but we could still replicate the format using different font tags. What do you think? (also sent this to Ric) Brett 20:24, 25 Apr 2006 (CDT)
I agreee we should use Clay for the 1st Liston fight and before.--Matt Tegen 08:43, 26 Apr 2006 (CDT)
Bouts by year
What the intent here? - to add all bouts? or only the big fights? I like the idea, its just I could see some very large pages if even a fraction of the bouts of a given year were added. Brett 22:24, 16 Apr 2006 (CDT)
IVE BEEN ASKED TO LEND YOU MY HEROL GRAHAM ARTICLE DETAILING HIS CAREER, HOW DO I EDIT IT INTO THE PAGE?? USER: MATTHEW SANDERSON
Combat Veterans (Bert)
WHY DON"T YOU JUST DELETE THE CATEGORY COMBAT VETERANS ? (Bert) Because it's a category grouping, in the same mold as Champions by weight class, is a grouping for Welterweight Champions, Middleweight champions, etc. Once again sign your comments and put them in the appropriate section. You've been doing this for over a year, don't act like you just got here yesterday. --Matt Tegen 16:23, 25 July 2006 (CDT)
There is false info on the Herol Graham page. Can I edit it?
when I have future scores, how can I get them updated on boxrec without posting a page here ? thanks
If your not an editor, just post them here. Leave a note in the comment box and hopefully someone will load them in.
--Matt Tegen 17:09, 8 May 2005 (CDT)
hey matt, question is it okay for me to edit, like on the delahoya-sturm page it just says contriversal deicsion and one of the most contriversal of the year 2004 ?
Matt, I'm now getting the hang of the manager and trainer (M/T) stubs you created. Have you created a referee stub? --Ric 21:12, 19 Aug 2005 (CDT)
Matt, Will you enter Delaware Venues under American Venues, haven't figured how to do that yet. Thanks, Bert
There are no Deleware venues, to create a category with that I can see right now. If there are, start a Deleware Venues category, and I will nest it into American venues.--Matt Tegen 11:39, 8 Sep 2005 (CDT)
Its not about adding Value its called substance, something i dont expect you would have any idea about, seeing you dont have a knowledge of anything to do with Austrlian boxing, and i do not appreciate the fact that your willingness to keep checking up on me, and editing my postings, fiar enough if you wish to tidy up the formatting, but they are not your words, there mine, and how you can continue to do that, based on your lack of knowledge of the sport in Australia. Ern is rated as one of the top Australian Trainers of all time, and the comments may not hold value, but they add substance and character, and i dont no who you think you are, but its clear you think your the boss, who are you to say what adds value? well buddy you have a chip on your shoulder, and i think its bout time you drop it.
Matt, what boxing organizations now have recognized world champions on this site ? Bert

NY Golden Gloves
Matt would you delete page New York Metropolitan Winners. Bert
Matt what do you want to with the New York Golden Gloves. The original category is about the NY tournement of champions which included all the eastern seaboard states from Maine to Flordia, the one I deleted are the NY Metropolitan (City) Championships that included only the five boroughs of NY. Ray Robinson won both.
Are we not deciphering between the two with the category that is being used? --Matt Tegen 18:22, 14 July 2006 (CDT) A couple were put back on, although I think it's understood now. Bert
Matt, I think you should delete the category Combat Veterans, I can create a page with the boxers who served in combat. bert
Bert, Why do we need to complicate the status of boxers in the veteran category? If they served, and fit the definition of a veteran, they belong in the category. You are just wasting your time and energy on this subject, when it is not needed; whether it be with putting the medals on the page, or trying to determine whether they served in a combat or non-combat role.
If you think the combat veterans grouping, which is being used to combine veterans of all conflicts should be renamed to something such as "War Veterans", that is different. All of these categories should make sense to someone passing through this site, and not to just you and a few others who have discussed it. Let's keep things simple in regards to this issue.--Matt Tegen 15:20, 21 July 2006 (CDT)
Matt, Any ideas/recommendations on how to name the non-referee Joe Cortez pages? There are 5 Joe Cortez's in the database. Do you know if any of them are in fact the referee? How do we name the others? I guess this would apply to any common name. Brett 22:50, 26 July 2006 (CDT)
I'd call him "Joe Cortez (his hometown). If that doesn't work then for example (New York Welterweight) --Matt Tegen 22:51, 26 July 2006 (CDT)
Levi Forte Missing Fights
- Hi Matt-
- This is the info I have on Levi Forte. First off, I found the program for the Levi Forte/Joe"King"Roman fight which I personally saw myself. I thought the fight was in 1977, but it turns out it was March 17, 1978. The fight was promoted by Tastee Concerts Sports: promotor James P. Keough, matchmaker Rocky Golio, and Coordinator John Ferero. The fight took place at the War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The referee was Eddie Eckert, Judges: Mark Kann, Petey Scalzo & for Kickboxing matches the judge was Joe Hess. Timekeeper was Sam Biller, Announcer Evan Carl, and ringside doctors were Charles Bender, Gerry Strauss, and Sam Strom. I was a fan of Forte's and traveled to see him & also Ike Hooks who fought on the card. The card was as follows in order of appearance: 1.) Ken Klingman vs. Larry Zyano (Klingman was listed as 4-0, 3KO, 18 years old, 165lbs./Zyano was billed as 4-0, 4KO, 18, 165. However, Zyano was a no show and he was replaced by Mike Ethridge.) 2.) Chris Lang vs. Willie Lee Allen (no records listed) 3.) Eddie Davis vs. Ike Hooks (Davis was billed as 152lbs. 28 years old, 26-20-4/ Hooks was billed as 25, 151lbs. 22-6, 14 knockouts).
4.) Ted Pryor vs. Jimmy Sisco: Kickboxing match. 5.) Joe King Roman vs Levi Forte: (Roman was billed as 27, 6ft.1inch. 194lbs. 61-8. Forte billed as 37, 6ft. 215lbs., 29-23-3, 19 knockouts. The end of his posted bio reads, " Fought Bahamian Champ, Kato Paris (1974) in Nassau and won in 10 rounds. Fought Bahamian Heavyweight Champ, Bert Perry (1976) in Nassau and lost judges decision. Last fought 6 mo. ago in Panama against Bahamian Champ, Bert Perry, won in 10 rounds. Results: Forte and Roman fought to a draw .Lange TKO'd Allen in 3 rounds.Davis decisioned Hooks in 8 rounds. Klingman won by Knockout in 2rds *Non-listed fight on program: Ted Mann KO 3 Billy Ryan. Regarding at fight for Forte in 1990. A Miami Herald article on August 28, 1990 in the Local Section, page 1B, titled: At 50, He's not too old to have a dream, Battling Bellman Tries to Make It Again In The Ring. Forte was in training for a comeback. Don't know the result of it.
The information provided on the Bio for Ely Uretsky, "Young Maxie Rosenbloom" "Maxie Rosen" was from a newpaper article with a photograph of Uretsky hitting the heavy bag. I can forward the article to you and the information regarding Ross, Canzoneri, Servo, and Jenkins was directly from that article. The rest of the bio was from your website. I have "Young Maxie Rosenbloom's" personal scrapebook with photos of him with several boxers, including Joe Louis at an exhibition fight during WWII. Ely Uretsky was my father, so I am interested in the truth, not bullshit. So if you know for a fact the he never fought Ross, Canzoneri, Servo and Jenkins then I'll have to accept that, and figure that the 1943 newpaper article was not accurate. But are you also saying he never fought Billy Sullivan, Connie Sperling, Sammy Musco, Al LaBarba, or Al Valentine too? Please let me know Thank You Tom Uretsky
You have a 1984 date in Escobar's MAC title. --Ric 14:37, 23 October 2006 (CDT)
Hi Matt. I'm sure you're right about Sailor Liston not being Sonny Liston's uncle, however, I based the information on an article I read in the April 1971 Ring Magazine, pages 18-19-36, by Jersey Jones. The article was entitled, LISTON CARRIED MANY SECRETS TO HIS GRAVE. On page 18, it says, " Mike Parkhurst, who says he handled Charley's fistic and other affairs these last several years, told the Ring that Liston definitely was only 38 years of age, and that his recorded date of birth was May 8, 1932, was correct." "There is a possibility that Sonny was confused with his boxer cousin Sailor Liston, who fought around 1934, " Parkhurst added. Maybe there were two Sailor Listons?-Legwarmers1980

I'm reading posts here to you, but don't see any answers. Was curious, do you answer via private e-mail, or somewhere else? Thanks-acunaboy (Bobby Sanchez)
Look above there are answers given. Often times people are just pointing out mistakes or making observations. Other times I will post on someone elses user page, because the system notifies the user.--Matt Tegen 19:00, 6 December 2006 (CST)
Fight:1103716, the fight page for the Miguel Cotto - Carlos Quintana bout is sporting an ugly SQL error. Can something be done about it? Maybe simply delete and recreate the page? --Fosho 19:20, 7 December 2006 (CST)
Problem solved. In the future, just figure out what the address for the history page is, and type that in. Then hit edit while on the history page, and it will let you circumvent whatever error is blocking you from editing.--Matt Tegen 10:52, 8 December 2006 (CST)
Right, I feel stupid now. I actually did that to access the discussion page of the article, but didn't think of the history page... Well, whatever... thanks anyway. --Fosho 14:31, 8 December 2006 (CST)
I'm very curious. I notice that you & John/Ric delete various people. For example, Isaac Sved. I'm just wondering, why for example, did you delete him? Just wondering. The fact of the matter, that some pages with a lot of research have been deleted & I was just trying to figure out how that determination is made. Thanks. Acunaboy (Bobby Sanchez)
Sved is the trainer of a kickboxer (Sherman Bergman). Not boxing related--Matt Tegen 11:23, 12 December 2006 (CST)
Jimmy Britt's Last Two Bouts
Are you sure about his nationality? BoxRec lists it as Australian. Has he dual citizenship? --Fosho 18:17, 12 February 2007 (CST)
He's from South Africa though, and started boxing there. I'm not really into these nationality pissing contests. I guess he can both.--Matt Tegen 18:47, 12 February 2007 (CST)
he'slived in Aus for years and if a citizen and is currently studdying in law school, he's australian Vic Darchinyan has been aussie for a long time now and Gairy st clair became and aussie citizen going into the klassen fight
We could put those guys in both categories, should be fine. --Fosho 07:25, 13 February 2007 (CST)

Sorry, was deleting some unnecessary line breaks and other stuff and habit took over. I don't update just to switch it though. Brett 10:22, 31 March 2007 (CDT)
Maselino Masoe was not placed in the right url, i went to his boxrec page and it did not have an open book link,so i moved it to the right spot
Rock Solid Boxing
Please dont let him edit Bobby Gunn's page. He is someone who claims to manage Bobby but has no proof. As you see, everything he has said is negative about Bobby and bad for the site. (Mr. Boxing wrote)
I am his publicist. Thanks for helping. Joe may try to create a new name and say negative things about Bobby. In the past, Bobby's boxrec has not been filled with negative press. If you see negative comments, please expect it to be Joe McEwen aka rocksolidboxing.
