Lynumn won the CPD 1973 CPD Novice Jr. Featherweight title with a win over Jose Mendoza from Harrison Park's Boxing Team Chicago Golden Gloves Open division Champion at 118 lbs. 1975 and 1976 defeating Ronnie Furlow. The bantamweight limit moved to 119 lbs and Lynumn won in 1977, 178, 1979 & 1980 defeating Paul Campos, Mike Quiroz, Andy Jekiel and Jesse Torres.
