  • One of the four basic strategies of defensive boxing--along with slipping and ducking, rolling, and holding and clinching.
  • Executed by keeping the hands up (to block punches), the chin down (to protect it behind the gloves), and the eyes on the opponent (to see what's happening). Generally the right glove blocks the opponent's left-hand punches.
  • Sometimes called parrying
