2008-05-10 : Carl Froch 167¼ lbs beat Albert Rybacki 168½ lbs by TKO at 2:35 in round 4 of 12

  • Location: Nottingham Arena, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom
  • Referee: John Keane

Bout Summary

A looping right bloodied Rybacki's nose, and a follow-up right uppercut momentarily staggered him. Froch unloaded a barrage of power shots in the final minute before the referee decided that Rybacki had taken enough punishment.

Rybacki took the fight on less than two days notice, as several fighters backed out of the bout. Originally, Froch was supposed to meet Denis Inkin in a WBC Super Middleweight Title Eliminator, but Inkin pulled out due to injury shortly before the fight. Alejandro Berrio offered to step in, but he backed out shortly after agreeing to fight. Rubin Williams was then named as a replacement, but had travel difficulties and was not able to leave the USA in time for the fight.
