He did not participate in an actual match, as Uganda and several other African countries withdrew their teams after the start of the game after New Zealand was not banned due to controversy stemming from the New Zealand rugby team All Blacks making an appearance in apartheid South Africa. Boza Edwards had a first round bye, and was a walk-over loser to eventual Bronze Medalist [[Leszek Kosedowski]] of Poland.
