  • David Sears won the 1981 178lb New York Golden Gloves Open Championship. Sears defeated Porfirio Llanes of the Lunar Boys Club in the finals to win the Championship.
  • In 1980 Sears was stopped(RSC-2) by Porfirio Llanes in the finals of the 178lb NYGG Open Championship.
  • Sears advanced to the finals of the 1976 160lb NYGG Sub-Novice finals and was defeated by Michael Creegan of the Empire Sporting Club.
  • Representing New York in 1981 he won the 178 lb. Intercity Golden Gloves' championship.
  • Sears was trained by Vic Zimet at the New York City Recreation Departments Lost Batallion Hall.
