Dean Chance had an 11 year Major League Baseball career where he compiled a 128-115 record. His career was highlighted when he won the 1964 AL Cy Young Award, that he captured with the Los Angeles Angels after going 20-9. Chance also played with the Minnesota Twins, New York Mets, and Cleveland Indians.
After his baseball career ended, he became involved in boxing, managing 70s heavyweight contender Earnie Shavers.
